once upon a time cake used to be a normal college student running on cup ramen and the occasional trip to the local aquarium with any leftover funds it had left over from the latest student loan payment. it loved scouring yard sales and flea markets to find any outdated technology it could get its hands on. abandoned things like minidisc, old camcorders, floppy disks, consoles of past generations, and ancient computers were cake's favorite thing.
one day, cake found its old windows 7 machine in storage! excited to see what it got up to as a kid, it began to mess around on the desktop. then cake somehow get sucked in! this causes cake to lose its human form and be stored on the hard drive as 0's and 1's. the purple cat you see before you is its reconstruction of its outward appearance (with a few tweaks of course...)
after a lot of messing around from the inside, cake managed to upload itself to the internet! no longer confined to the small drive, it began to look for something to get into online. feeling nostalgic for the websites it used to make as a child, it decided neocities was the best place to hang out. cake now spends its days making design choices for this site and taking the occasional peek around the web to see what's new!

cake uses it/its pronouns and is aroace! it could also easily figure out a way to safely leave the internet if it wanted. the only reason it stays is because it lost the societal expectations accompanying a physical form and much prefers the freedom of self expression it is allowed on the net. (plus, it can have any outfit/visual features in the world just by thinking about it!)
